Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father who is in heaven will also forgive you your transgressions. Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you. Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him. Being reminded, Peter *said to Him, “Rabbi, look, the fig tree which You cursed has withered.” And Jesus *answered saying to them, “Have faith in God. As they were passing by in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots up. When evening came, they would go out of the city. And He began to teach and say to them, “Is it not written, ‘ My house shall be called a house of prayer for all the nations’? But you have made it a robbers’ den.” The chief priests and the scribes heard this, and began seeking how to destroy Him for they were afraid of Him, for the whole crowd was astonished at His teaching. And He entered the temple and began to drive out those who were buying and selling in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who were selling doves and He would not permit anyone to carry merchandise through the temple. He said to it, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again!” And His disciples were listening. Seeing at a distance a fig tree in leaf, He went to see if perhaps He would find anything on it and when He came to it, He found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs. On the next day, when they had left Bethany, He became hungry. But regarding the fact that the dead rise again, have you not read in the book of Moses, in the passage about the burning bush, how God spoke to him, saying, ‘I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead, but of the living you are greatly mistaken.” In the resurrection, when they rise again, which one’s wife will she be? For all seven had married her.” Jesus said to them, “Is this not the reason you are mistaken, that you do not understand the Scriptures or the power of God? For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven. The second one married her, and died leaving behind no children and the third likewise and so all seven left no children. There were seven brothers and the first took a wife, and died leaving no children. O Lord God Almighty, maker of heaven, earth, and seas, and of all things that in them are, and who controllest and subjectest the devil, and the dark and benighted dominion of Sheol-stretch forth thy hand let thine eye pierce let thy pavilion be taken up let thy hiding place no longer be covered let thine ear be inclined let thine heart be softened, and thy bowels moved with compassion toward us.Some Sadducees (who say that there is no resurrection) *came to Jesus, and began questioning Him, saying, “Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man’s brother dies and leaves behind a wife and leaves no child, his brother should marry the wife and raise up children to his brother. Yea, O Lord, how long shall they suffer these wrongs and unlawful oppressions, before thine heart shall be softened toward them, and thy bowels be moved with compassion toward them? O God, awhere art thou? And where is the pavilion that covereth thy hiding place? How long shall thy hand be stayed, and thine eye, yea thy pure eye, behold from the eternal heavens the wrongs of thy people and of thy servants, and thine ear be penetrated with their cries? I shall die innocent, and it shall yet be said of me-he was murdered in cold blood. I am going like a lamb to the slaughter but I am calm as a summer’s morning I have a conscience void of offense towards God, and towards all men.
